About Hopewell Humane Society Founded in 1960, Hopewell Humane Society proudly stands as the oldest cat-exclusive, no-kill, nonprofit organization dedicated solely to the care and protection of cats. For more than six decades, we have been a safe haven for cats who are abandoned, unwanted, or in need of a second chance—providing them with compassion, stability, and hope.Our mission is simple yet powerful: to ensure every cat in our care is safe, healthy, and loved until they find their forever home, while also supporting our community through education, resources, and advocacy for responsible cat welfare. Every cat that enters our doors is treated with dignity and care, regardless of age, health, or circumstance. Hopewell Humane Society is not built on profit. In fact, we lose money on every cat we adopt out due to the high cost of veterinary care, food, shelter, and enrichment. But our purpose has never been financial—it is driven entirely by the belief that every cat deserves a chance at a loving home. Thanks to the generosity of our supportive community, donations continue to grow, and with that growth comes the ability to change more lives.
