Goose's Journey Home: Made Possible by Your Generosity

When Goose, a sweet cat, came to Hopewell Humane Society, we knew he deserved a loving home. He was quickly adopted, but on the very day his new family was coming to pick him up, he had an unexpected reaction to his distemper shot. This put his adoption on hold as he entered a challenging 10-day isolation period, showing no signs of improvement.

Understanding the strain this put on our already busy shelter, one of our dedicated team members stepped up to foster Goose. This included taking him to the vet and ensuring he received 14 days of crucial medication. This allowed him to receive the specialized care he needed to recover. For two weeks, Goose was showered with attention, receiving care four to five times a day. We even added a humidifier to ease his upper respiratory infection and played classical music to keep him company, ensuring he never felt alone. We kept his excited new family updated daily with texts and videos, sharing every step of his progress.

Thanks to this dedicated care, and your heartfelt donations, Goose made a full recovery! We're thrilled to announce that on June 7, 2025, Goose finally went home to his forever family, happy and healthy. His story is a wonderful example of the commitment and love we pour into every cat at Hopewell Humane Society, ensuring they all get the second chance they deserve.

This heartwarming success story was only made possible by your incredible generosity. Your donations directly support the vital care, medical attention, and loving environment that allows cats like Goose to heal and find their forever homes. Thank you for making a difference!

Black Friday Miracle: Luna's Fight for Life

Black Friday. For many, it's a day of deals and holiday shopping. But for a tiny, two-month-old kitten, it was almost the end. Dumped outside a doctor's office in late November, this little tortie, soon to be named Luna, was teetering on the brink. The frigid night air was already setting in, promising temperatures well below freezing. She wouldn't have made it through.

When our rescue team found Luna, her future looked bleak. She was feeble, with a painful eye infection, angry bites from other cats, and a host of internal struggles from worms and other GI issues. Her tiny body was frail, her meows barely a whisper. It was clear she needed immediate, intensive care.

Bringing a kitten like Luna back from the brink takes a tremendous amount of resources – dedicated staff, urgent veterinary care, medications, and a warm, safe place to recover. The truth is, we lose money on every cat we adopt out. It’s not a business model built for profit, but for purpose. For 65 years, our mission has been simple: to save lives and find forever homes for countless cats just like Luna.

Thanks to the generosity of people like you, we were able to give Luna her second chance. Your donations, whether big or small, are the lifeblood of our shelter. They allowed us to provide Luna with the critical medical attention she desperately needed, to nourish her back to health, and to shower her with the love and care she deserved.

Today, Luna is a vibrant, playful, and healthy cat. She's found her forever family, a loving home where she’s cherished and safe. Her story is a testament to the power of compassion and the profound impact a donation can have.

Sadly, Luna's story isn't unique. Many kittens and cats arrive at our shelter in even worse condition, abandoned and suffering. They all deserve the same chance at a happy, healthy life.

Please consider donating today. Your support means we can continue to be a lifeline for vulnerable animals, transforming stories of despair into tales of hope, just like Luna's.
