Volunteer With Us

Hopewell Humane Society is an all-volunteer-run organization, and the time our volunteers give plays a direct role in the care, comfort, and well-being of cats and kittens in our community.
Whether you’re able to help weekly, monthly, or on an occasional basis, volunteering with us makes a meaningful difference — not just for the cats, but for the people who care for them.

Ways to Volunteer
Volunteers support many areas of daily operations. Below are some of the ways you can get involved.
Caregivers
Assist with hands-on care for cats and kittens on weekdays and/or weekends. Volunteers may choose days that fit their schedule.
Laundry Support
Help wash, dry, and fold linens and cleaning rags that are essential to maintaining a clean, healthy environment.
Building & Maintenance Support
Assist with light building maintenance and improvement projects as needed.
Vet Taxi
Transport cats to and from veterinary appointments on weekdays. A flexible schedule is required.
Donation Pickup Assistance
Occasionally assist with picking up large donations from local organizations. This may involve heavy lifting and, in some cases, access to a box truck or trailer.
How to Get Started
Please complete the Volunteer Request Form, and a member of our volunteer team will follow up with you.
To help our small team stay focused on caring for the cats and kittens in our shelter, we kindly ask that you do not call the shelter directly regarding volunteer opportunities.
Our Volunteers
Our volunteers range in age from young adults to retirees, and we welcome individuals who are committed to supporting the care and well-being of cats. From hands-on caregiving to behind-the-scenes support, every role contributes to changing lives.
Hopewell Humane Society is located in Hopewell, Virginia, just minutes from Fort Lee, Colonial Heights, and Prince George.
By lending your time, you help change the lives of cats and kittens every year.
